Lotterywest Cheque Presentation

17 September 2010

Friday 17th September 2010 was a significant day for Jerramungup, and in particular for the Revitalisation Working Group. At 2.15pm the Hon. Terrence (Terry) Waldron MLA, Minister for Sport and Recreation, Racing and Gaming, Minister Assisting the Minister for Health, Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary National Party of Australia (WA), presented a Lotterywest cheque for $311,704 to Mr Bill Bailey, Deputy Shire President, for the construction of a new playground in Roe Park.

Mr Waldron congratulated Council, staff and the community representatives on the time and effort put in to the formulation of the revitalisation concepts and the grant application. Mr Bailey thanked Mr Waldron for the funding received and noted his appreciation in knowing that the money he has spent on purchasing lottery tickets has not been wasted.

The presentation was the culmination of months of hard work by the working group community representatives: Bianca Gray, Christine Petersen, Janine Barrett, Kristel Harris, Nikki Carthew, Neil Foreman and Tracey Parsons. The playground is part of the Roe Park upgrade which will provide the residents of Jerramungup townsite and its visitors with many hours of enjoyment.
