Coastal Management Plan Review 2017

The Shire of Jerramungup has been successful in procuring funding provided from the Department of Planning through their "Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program 2016/17" for the review and update of the Shire’s Coastal Management Plan 2005.

The overall aim of the project is to review and update the existing Shire of Jerramungup Coastal Management Plan to ensure the provision of suitable and practical recommendations on coastal management in accordance with State Planning Policy 2.6 and in line with the strategic objectives of the Southern Shores Strategy 2009-2030.

The revised Management Plan will guide management actions of the Shire of Jerramungup coastline for the next 10 years.

To deliver the project, the Shire has appointed a steering committee that will guide and oversee the project. Additionally, the Shire has now engaged Aurora Environmental, an experienced environmental consultancy, to administer most of the project related work, especially preparing the new draft Coastal Management Plan.

The project manager for Aurora Environmental, Melanie Price, has already commenced and conducted most of the coastal assessment while their partners for this project, MP Rodgers are working on a First Past Hazard assessment of our coast in the background.

From here, the next big focus will be on intensive community and stakeholder consultation.

This is where we need you!

Please take a few minutes to complete a short survey gathering information on how you utilise our beaches, what you love about our coastline, things you would like to see protected and items that could be improved. And make sure to include any further feedback you may have for us on this matter.
